Light the Edge of Your World

Your backyard fence is more than a boundary — it’s a canvas. Bernardy Lighting specializes in low-voltage LED fence lighting systems that turn plain privacy fences, cedar boards, and masonry walls into glowing, atmospheric features that redefine your outdoor space at night.

Whether you want soft wash lighting that grazes the wood grain of a cedar fence, post-cap lights that create a rhythm of warm points of light, or directional downlights that illuminate the ground along your fence line, we design systems that match your yard’s style and your evening lifestyle.

In DFW’s larger suburban lots — common in Flower Mound, Southlake, and Lewisville — fence lines can stretch 200 feet or more. Bernardy Lighting uses multi-zone transformers and strategic fixture placement to ensure consistent, beautiful light from gate to gate without hot spots or dark patches.

Types of Fence Lighting We Install

Fence Rail Downlights

Small directional fixtures mounted on fence rails or caps that cast light downward along the fence base — creates a floating glow effect that defines your yard’s edge.

Post Cap Lighting

Solar or low-voltage LED caps sit atop fence posts and create evenly spaced warm light markers along your fence line — classic look, easy installation.

Fence Face Wash Lighting

Ground-mounted uplights placed 12–18 inches from the fence base wash the fence surface with light, revealing wood texture or stone detail in dramatic relief.

In-Ground Path Lights Along Fence

Recessed or stake-mounted path lights along the fence line illuminate walking paths and create a clear visual boundary after dark — great for pool areas and side yards.

Gate Accent Lighting

Frame your gate opening with recessed or surface-mounted accent lights that make entering your backyard feel like an event — especially effective for pool gates and garden entries.

Benefits of Fence Lighting

  • Defined perimeter — clearly marks your property edge at night, making your yard feel intentional and designed
  • Enhanced security — eliminates dark corners along fence lines where intruders could approach undetected
  • Extended evening use — with perimeter lighting, your yard is usable and enjoyable well after sunset
  • Backyard ambiance — a glowing fence line creates a room-like sense of enclosure that transforms outdoor entertaining
  • Child and pet safety — illuminated fence lines help keep kids and pets visible and safe during evening outdoor time
  • Improved nighttime presentation — well-lit, designed outdoor spaces consistently add to home resale appeal

DFW’s larger suburban lots often feature extensive fence runs that require professional-grade transformers and wiring — we spec every system for the actual load, ensuring consistent light levels and a system that lasts.

Fence Lighting FAQ

Will fence lighting damage my wood fence?

Not when installed correctly. We use surface-mount or post-top fixtures that require minimal or no penetration, and all hardware is rust-resistant. Low-voltage LEDs produce no heat buildup that would affect wood.

Can you light a fence that’s shared with a neighbor?

Yes — we design systems that direct light inward toward your property, so there’s no light spill onto neighboring yards. Most directional fixtures can be aimed precisely to avoid any neighbor concerns.

What’s the best color temperature for fence lighting?

We typically recommend 2700K warm white for residential fence lighting — it creates a cozy, inviting glow that complements wood and stone without the harsh blue tint of cool LEDs.

Can I control fence lights separately from my other outdoor lights?

Absolutely. We can wire fence lighting on its own zone, giving you independent control over timing, dimming, and on/off without affecting your landscape or soffit lights.

How do you handle fence corners and gates?

Corners and gates get special attention in our design — we use adjustable fixtures or additional accent lights at transition points to ensure consistent light levels and a polished look throughout the fence run.
